Symptoms: Emotional blunting, Cognitive impairment, Depersonalization/Derealization, Suicidal ideation, Anhedonia
I just want to start by saying that I really think it’s good that this website exists, because I truly believe that everyone can have a different reaction to a pharmaceutical drug.
I was put on Accutane when I was 16 (I’m 39 today) because I had acne on my back. I’ve read that Accutane is supposed to reduce your sebum production in your skin. I got the total opposite from that. While I was on it I developed two skin conditions called hyperseborrhea and hidradenitis suppurativa. I’ve also been struggling with mental health problems since then and been on both antidepressants and benzodiazepines on different occasions and long term. I strongly believe that Accutane triggered my health problems and that I had a bad reaction to Accutane. I believe Accutane has somehow affected me negatively in more than one way and that it has caused a systemic inflammation in my body. Since I was 16 and got all my health problems I’ve been going to dermatologists and psychiatrists for my various health conditions. I hope change will happen in the future and that the medical community can take side effects and adverse reactions of drugs more seriously.
Thank you for having this website.
