Symptoms: Suicidal ideation
The story is my son's story. US Army Veteran, Student Veteran Connor W. L. Brumfield. He suffered a traumatic brain injury during his Army service and they never treated him. The symptoms from the TBI were cyclic, but crushing: insomnia, headaches, physical pain, tinnitus, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, muscle/joint pain. (All are also side effects of Bupropion, by the way.) He discharged from the Army February 2023. He visited the VA community clinic in Butte, Montana to establish care, received a PHQ screening, and the nurse practitioner prescribed him Bupropion. He received the prescription on April 5th, 2023 and took 8 pills over 8 days as prescribed. On the 8th day he took his own life. No lethal means assessment. No phone calls. No notification of his loved ones to monitor him, no monitoring. No adherence to the Black Box warnings, he was 22. No proper informed consent. Ignored the DoD/VA TBI treatment guide that specifically says to avoid Bupropion.
