My Life Forever Changed

Age: 36–45  ·  Duration of use: Less than 1 month  ·  Current status: No, have stopped
Symptoms: Acute leg paralysis, Severe leg weakness, pain, atrophy, Collagen damage, Wheelchair/scooter dependent

Following a complication post hysterectomy I experienced intense bladder pain and spasms. An urgent care doctor prescribed Cipro as a "just in case it's a kidney infection" antibiotic. The testing later came back negative for any infections.

I am not one to easily take medications, and I typically question everything, but this was the first and last time I decided to trust the system and the doctor and I took the Cipro. After only one day on this medication I had acute paralysis of both legs and was unable to stand or walk. I immediately stopped taking it. I have since had severe leg weakness, pain and atrophy. I have been diagnosed with collagen damage to the legs.

I am a homeschool mom to two young boys and my family's life has now been changed for the last year and a half without any signs of getting better due to this medication. I am unable to walk through a store or to the playground from the parking lot. I have to use wheelchairs and mobility scooters daily and struggle to do normal household chores. My weeks are now spent going to physical therapy, naturopathic doctor appointments and trying an endless amount of supplements. This medication has cost my family money, time, a normal life with their mother and wife, and I have lost any semblance of independence.

I pray for healing and am saddened to my core that this happened to me and to so many others.
