Migraines

Age: 36–45  ·  Duration of use: Less than 1 month  ·  Current status: No, have stopped
Symptoms: Brain zaps, Insomnia, migraines

I was a depressed patient that after maybe a score of drugs they found one that did give me more energy, but then I got the bipolar diagnosis. I believe it was SSRI-induced mania. For bipolar they offer anti-convulsants. The doctor finally put me on Lamictal, and I was only on it a couple of weeks. When I went off I got a migraine and I've been having them regularly since. It's been about ten years. I don't throw up from every migraine, maybe half of them. But I get around two a month.

I also believe I got brain zaps from Zyprexa that I was forced to take while hospitalized. I only took the doses forced on me. I wasn't in the hospital long, maybe 48 hours, so I didn't take that much. Still, for maybe a week later I got them. Thank goodness they didn't stay long.

Oh and I got insomnia from cold turkey-ing Seroquel. It was only a couple of days, and kind of a relief because it was making me sleep over 12 hours a day.

While I am in my 40s now, these experiences happened around 2015–17 when I was an international PhD student.
