Twice Harmed for Life

Age: 46–55  ·  Duration of use: 5+ years  ·  Current status: No, have stopped
Symptoms: Brain zaps, emotional blunting, cognitive impairment, depersonalization/derealization, suicidal ideation, neuropathy, severe anxiety/panic, muscle/joint pain, GI disturbances

I have long-term damage from two different medications. I took Prozac for 9 years and developed extreme anxiety and panic. I didn't know what was causing it until I skipped several doses of Prozac and my symptoms improved. I quit the Prozac and the panic attacks stopped and the anxiety lessened, but I have been left with long-term generalized anxiety that never goes away.

The second medication was Levaquin, a fluoroquinolone. It left me with long-term nerve damage in my hands and feet, joint pain, loss of hearing, vision issues, bowel issues, shortness of breath, extreme exhaustion, and inability to function.
