Dependent

Age: 46–55  ·  Duration of use: 5+ years  ·  Current status: Unable to get off
Symptoms: Cognitive impairment, depersonalization/derealization, GI disturbances

I've been on Venlafaxine for panic attacks I started having in my late 20s. If I miss a dose, by the end of the day I will have dry heaving and visual dreams. The immediate withdrawal is absolutely horrible. Vomiting, flu-like symptoms, vertigo, and emotional breakdowns.

Even tapering by doctor's orders makes me feel like I'm walking around in a fog and unable to function, eventually ending up back on my full dose. I fear that I am stuck on this poison for life even though I haven't had anxiety issues in many years.

Very disappointed. I wish someone would have explained this to me before I started taking it.
