Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

Age: 46–55  ·  Duration of use: Less than 1 month  ·  Current status: No, have stopped
Symptoms: Brain zaps, emotional blunting, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, suicidal ideation, severe anxiety/panic, muscle/joint pain, GI disturbances

I was hospitalised inpatient for suicidal ideation for a week in 2019. Two days after I was discharged, I suffered an episode called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome and Serotonin Syndrome with febrile encephalopathy. My family was notified to make funeral arrangements. My daughter was told that if I did make it out of the hospital, I would require 24-hour care for the rest of my life. My expected hospital stay was greater than three months.

I came to about one week into the episode and signed myself out of the hospital AMA. I’ve asked attorneys and no one will sue the psychiatrist who prescribed the psych meds.
