SSRI/SNRI Toxicity Induced Brain Injury

Age: 36–45  ·  Duration of use: 5+ years  ·  Current status: No longer taking
Symptoms: Akathisia, brain zaps, emotional blunting, sexual dysfunction, cognitive impairment, insomnia, depersonalization/derealization, suicidal ideation, tinnitus, neuropathy, muscle/joint pain, GI disturbances, toxic encephalopathy, toxicity-induced brain damage

Was put on the SSRI citalopram 40mg at 18 years of age for 9 years and switched to Effexor 75mg for 3 years before I tried to get off cold turkey.

I experienced an electrical neurological brain injury — a protracted injury.

Unfortunately I reinstated the Effexor at 9 months off and my health continued to worsen. I did a long hyperbolic taper while paradoxical, enduring toxicity effects to my brain and CNS system which resulted in more severe harm. I’ve been completely free of these drugs coming up 3.5 years next month, but in total I’ve had 9 years pretty much taken from me by iatrogenic drug harm.
