Symptoms: Akathisia, emotional blunting, cognitive impairment, muscle/joint pain, excessive tiredness, lack of motivation, anhedonia, orthostatic hypotension, dry mouth
I was forced to receive monthly injections of Abilify (Aripiprazole) after being hospitalized in a psychiatric facility. The drug had a significant adverse effect on me almost immediately after receiving my first injection. I experienced severe akathisia, extreme fatigue, significant cognitive impairment including difficulty with concentration and memory loss, near (if not) complete lack of motivation, emotional blunting, and anhedonia.
Abilify wreaked havoc on the way I experience life, and the adverse effects have persisted even after stopping the drug. I no longer experience positive emotion, I don’t have the energy or motivation to work anymore, it is more difficult to speak now and I basically feel like a fraction of the person I was before being drugged with this awful poison.
My quality of life has significantly suffered as a result of being injected with Abilify, yet I continue to live on because life is still worth living despite all of the damage it has caused. I am sharing my experience with the hope that other people may avoid suffering the adverse effects of Abilify.
